First Friday: The March Edition

Who knew making excuses for being late was trendy?

Thankfully, we don’t need an excuse—First Friday is right on time! We’re here to go over some of our favourite social media trends we saw last month.

Trending Lifestyle Audios

Love - Remix

Thanks to Valentine’s Day, it should come as no surprise that some of our trends revolved around people showing love for their partners. This particular audio is a remixed version of Kendrick Lamar’s song LOVE. ft. Zacari. This remix is great background music for all those lovey-dovey appreciation videos.

However, you didn’t need to be partnered up to take advantage of the trend—once it took off we saw people sharing all sorts of things they love, like their favourite cafes, awesome clothing, or delicious food.

Sports Car x Promiscuous

The Altego Music Twins are back again this month with another trending remix, this time featuring Sports Car by Tate McRae and Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado. The resulting audio is perfect for setting up that thumb-stopping shot.

Whether it’s fashion influencers or cute dogs doing tricks, we saw a lot of great content with this catchy tune.

Trending Comedic Audios

Traffic was CRAZY!

Be honest. You’ve been late before. You’ll probably be late again. Your excuse? Well… it’s complicated. Better to go with an old standby: traffic.  These are the moments this trend captures. Users start the video by apologizing for being late and saying the traffic was crazy. Then, the shot changes, revealing what the “traffic” really was—often a pet or kids. Other times, users got a bit more creative with their reasons for being late and blamed traffic for their outdoor snacks or a trip to the thrift store.

A Piece of Candy

In  this scene in Family Guy, Peter and Brian set up a trap to lure someone over with candy, such as you might do when trying to lure an animal towards a trap.

Naturally, users on social media are using this audio to recreate the scene, only instead of candy, they’re showing the items someone could probably use to lure them into a trap—such as makeup, art supplies, or even cute stuffed animals.

Who Is Your Emergency Contact?

We all have an emergency contact. But it’s not like we expect them to be the serious, responsible one 24/7…right? That’s the notion this trend explores: the non-seriousness of the very people we’ve designated to be in charge if things go south.

Users are capturing footage of their emergency contacts doing very silly things to demonstrate the absurd feeling that this person will be their go-to in an emergency.

Don’t Get Caught in the Photo!

Looking for a silly game to play with your friends or coworkers? Try the “Don’t Get Caught in the Photo” trend!

To do this trend, choose a person to be your photographer, stand them in the middle of the room, and blindfold them. Their goal is to move around in circles, snapping photos while everyone else in the room moves around to avoid being in any of those photos.

If it sounds impossible… that’s because it is. But the photos you’ll get out of it are guaranteed to have you crying from laughter.

Adverb Comms: The Sitcom

Remember how sitcoms from the 90s always had the same kind of opening? We certainly do!

Back at our Annual Retreat in January, we challenged the team to come up with their own versions of how they would be featured in a sitcom intro, and they did not disappoint! Watch our intro here.

Your friends,

Adverb.
