Building A Site That Tells A Story

We did it. We finally updated Adverb’s website.

Why change now? Well, our first website was a bit of a mess. Tyler built it off the side of his desk in the company’s early days (and, frankly, he’s just sort of okay at web design to begin with).

Since then, we’ve grown and changed—and our story has evolved.

We’re storytellers at heart. And we wanted to share our story in a way that felt authentic and creative. That’s where our Art Director, Andrea Hirji, comes in.

Andrea’s passion for visual storytelling and deep understanding of user experience design were the keys to our new site.

She sat down with us in an episode of the Ask Adverb podcast to discuss her design process—including some of the unique challenges we put in front of her.

At Adverb, we think of ourselves as writers first. And we wanted our new website to highlight the words that define us.

In the episode, we discuss how typography tells our story, our intentional use of colour to create meaning, and the delicate balance between seriousness and fun in our digital identity.

Adverb’s brand story and values are the foundation of our company. But digital storytelling is about more than words on a screen—it’s about how that story comes to life through thumb-stopping design.

When we have both—great words and great design—we can tell stories that change the world.
