First Friday: The November Edition
Domingo and Gibby, hanging out at the klurb.
Welcome to First Friday, where we explain what that sentence means! Today, we’ll also be taking a look at what was trending on social media this last month, giving you a Halloween 2024 recap and an Adverbian pop quiz!
Trending Lifestyle Audios
Meet Me Halfway x Follow Rivers
If you are looking for a fun, upbeat song to use on your next Instagram reel, this mashup is for you! This audio combines the songs “Meet Me Halfway” by The Black Eyed Peas and “I Follow Rivers” by Lykke Li.
Content creators across several niches on the platform have been sharing reels with this as the background music all month long. From foodies to fashionistas, this audio can do it all!
Nice to Meet You - Myles Smith
This song by Myles Smith took off on Instagram this month. The original video, shared by Smith, reveals this version is just a demo of the song, which he is playing in his living room with a guitar. The song is upbeat and VERY catchy, and all about getting out and enjoying life!
Similar to the previous audio, users on Instagram have been using this song for a wide variety of content including, but not limited to: pet videos, cute kids, farm and ranching accounts and even construction projects.
Trending Comedic Audios
This trend comes from an old episode of the show “Broad Family” and users are lip-syncing the lines of one woman declaring “In da klurb, we all fam,” while the other is increasingly confused.
After repeating the line three times, the original speaker finally gives in and translates the line to “In the club, we are all family.”
This trend is all about being with your community, your found family, or just relating to strangers. Alternatively, users are also making videos about trying to speak to a younger generation and not understanding their slang.
Saturday Night Live has done it again! Ariana Grande was a guest star and one of her skits has taken over TikTok in the past two weeks. The skit quickly blew up on TikTok before it evolved into a full-on trend.
The skit takes place at a wedding party and features the bridesmaids performing a parody version of the song Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter. In their parody, the bridesmaids share what they did during the bachelorette party — meeting a man named Domingo. By the end of the song, Domingo himself comes out…and chaos ensues.
The part of the song that became a trend is when Domingo starts singing. Users are either lip-syncing to the audio or using a CapCut template to talk about a situation where important information or news comes directly from the source.
This trend comes from the TV show iCarly. The original clip features the character Gibby introducing himself to someone. After being told that person doesn’t speak English, Gibby replies with “I’m still Gibby.”
People on TikTok are lip-syncing Gibby’s lines and adding text to personalize the words to be about them. For example, users are replacing “Gibby” with feelings, what they do for work, or just other things about themselves.
Want something really badly? Try asking through interpretive dance!
Sometimes, you need to do better than simply asking for something you want—that is what this trend is all about.
The original video using this sound was posted in early 2023 and it is a genuine video of a dancer. In this month’s resurgence of the tune, TikTokers have started performing interpretive dances with the song in front of the person they want something from in hopes of convincing them to say yes!
The best part about this trend is that you really don’t need to have any good dance moves if you want to participate. In fact, the worse you are at dancing, the better your video will be—as long as you put your heart into it!
Halloween 2024
Halloween is pretty much a month-long event in the world of social media. These past few weeks, TikTok has been full of people showing off their wild costumes, elaborate decorations, and of course, lots of goofing off while pretending to be a ghost.
A few different memes made an appearance near the end of the month as well, including this Wizard Cat on a Broomstick.
It’s okay if you haven’t posted your Halloween videos yet! Try using this trending sound in the next few days to share your stunning costume with the world.
